Overview
Fat-soluble antioxidant (Tocopherol). Protects cell membranes from oxidative damage. Rarely deficient except in severe fat malabsorption syndromes (e.g., Cystic Fibrosis).
Maximum Dose
Max 1000 mg/day (High doses increase all-cause mortality).
Clinical Focus
High doses (>400 IU/day) strongly interfere with Vitamin K, significantly increasing the risk of bleeding and hemorrhagic stroke.
Bottom Line
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant sometimes used for deficiency states and NAFLD, but high-dose supplementation may increase all-cause mortality and bleeding risk with anticoagulants.

Primary
Treatment of Vitamin E deficiency.
