Why consider it
both motor and vocal tics present - reclassify
Criteria and features to review
- A. Both multiple motor tics AND ≥1 vocal tic present at some time during the illness, though not necessarily simultaneously
- B. Tics may wax and wane in frequency but have persisted for >1 year since first tic onset
- C. Onset before age 18
- D. Not attributable to physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition
Questions to clarify
- Which documented criteria and exclusions are met for each possibility?
- What timeline, course, and functional change best distinguishes the alternatives?
- Are substance, medication, medical, developmental, and contextual explanations adequately assessed?
