Core criterion A
Both multiple motor tics AND ≥1 vocal tic present at some time during the illness, though not necessarily simultaneously
Core criterion B
Tics may wax and wane in frequency but have persisted for >1 year since first tic onset
Core criterion C
Onset before age 18
Core criterion D
Not attributable to physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition
Consistent with [Tourette's Disorder] [specifier(s)]. Since childhood and with onset before age 18, there have been multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic, present at some time during the illness, although not necessarily concurrently, for more than one year. The presentation is further characterised by waxing and waning tic frequency and intensity, with premonitory urges and partial suppressibility where present. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant distress or impairment in social, academic, or occupational functioning, and the pattern is not better explained by substance use, a primary neurological condition, or another medical disorder.
