Core criterion A
Predominant complaint of dissatisfaction with sleep quantity/quality: ≥1 of: difficulty initiating sleep; difficulty maintaining sleep (frequent awakenings); early morning awakening with inability to return to sleep

Causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, educational, academic, behavioural, or other important areas of functioning

Consistent with [Insomnia Disorder]. For at least three months, occurring at least three nights per week, there have been persistent difficulties initiating sleep; difficulties maintaining sleep; frequent nocturnal awakenings; early-morning awakening with inability to return to sleep; dissatisfaction with sleep quality or quantity, occurring despite adequate opportunity and circumstances for sleep. The presentation is further characterised by daytime consequences such as fatigue, reduced concentration, low mood, irritability, or impaired functioning. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or interpersonal functioning, and the picture is not better explained by another sleep-wake disorder, substance use, prescribed medications, circadian rhythm disturbance, or a co-occurring mental or medical condition.
