Consistent with [Anxiety Disorder Due to Another Medical Condition] [specifier(s)]. In the context of an identifiable medical condition, there have been prominent anxiety; excessive fear; excessive worry; panic attacks; physiological arousal such as palpitations, trembling, dyspnoea, dizziness, with symptoms directly attributable to the pathophysiological effects of the medical condition. Core features also include restlessness; feeling tense; impaired concentration; irritability; muscle tension; sleep disturbance, forming a pattern not better explained by a primary anxiety disorder or by substance/medication effects. The presentation is further characterised by a temporal association between the onset or exacerbation of anxiety and the medical condition, and the disturbance not occurring exclusively during a delirium. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant distress or impairment, and alternative explanations such as primary anxiety disorders, substance-induced anxiety, mood disorders with anxious distress, and psychotic disorders are considered less likely.
