Since adolescence or early adulthood, there has been a pervasive pattern of excessive need to be taken care of; submissive and clinging behaviour; difficulty making everyday decisions without reassurance; needing others to assume responsibility for major life areas; difficulty expressing disagreement due to fear of loss of support; difficulty initiating projects due to low self-confidence; going to excessive lengths to obtain nurturance and support; discomfort or helplessness when alone; urgently seeking another relationship when one ends; preoccupation with fears of being left to care for oneself.
