Consistent with [Childhood-Onset Fluency Disorder (Stuttering)] [specifier(s)]. Since early childhood, there have been sound and syllable repetitions; prolongations of consonants; broken words; audible or silent blocking; circumlocutions; words produced with excess physical tension; monosyllabic whole-word repetitions, forming a pattern persistent across time and situations. The presentation is further characterised by associated anxiety, avoidance of speaking, and behavioural tension arising from disrupted fluency, consistent with a developmental fluency disorder. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant impairment in social, academic, or interpersonal communication, and the picture is not better explained by a speech-motor deficit, neurological condition, hearing impairment, or fluency disturbance occurring exclusively during another mental disorder or medical condition.
