Consistent with [Specific Phobia] [specifier(s)]. Over at least six months, there has been marked fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation; immediate fear or anxiety response on exposure; active avoidance of the phobic trigger; fear or anxiety out of proportion to actual danger; persistent anticipatory anxiety or behavioural avoidance. The presentation is further characterised by physiological arousal, safety behaviours, and situational avoidance reinforcing the phobic response. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant distress or impairment, and are not better explained by other anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, eating disorders, or medical conditions.
