Consistent with [Excoriation (Skin-Picking) Disorder] [specifier(s)]. There has been recurrent skin picking resulting in skin lesions; repeated attempts to decrease or stop the behaviour, forming a persistent pattern of compulsive picking. The presentation is further characterised by preceding tension or urges; relief, gratification, or reduction in distress when picking; repetitive body-focused behaviours and focused/automatic picking styles. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or interpersonal functioning, and the picture is not better explained by a dermatological condition, substance effects, or another mental disorder such as body dysmorphic disorder.
