Core diagnostic criteria, specifiers, differential considerations, and documentation support in one open, scan-friendly view.
All criteria are shown. No expand controls or hidden sections.
Core criterion A
Restriction of energy intake → significantly low body weight for age, sex, developmental trajectory, and physical health
Core criterion B
Intense fear of weight gain or persistent behaviour interfering with weight gain, despite low weight
Core criterion C
Disturbance in how weight/shape experienced; undue influence on self-evaluation; or persistent lack of recognition of seriousness of current low weight
Consistent with [Anorexia Nervosa] [specifier(s)]. There is persistent restriction of energy intake leading to a significantly low body weight in the context of the individual's age, sex, developmental trajectory, and physical health. The presentation is further characterised by an intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, or persistent behaviour that interferes with weight gain (even at markedly low weight); and a disturbance in the way body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self-evaluation, or persistent lack of recognition of the seriousness of the current low body weight. The pattern must include all three features: low weight, fear or interfering behaviour, and cognitive disturbance. This diagnosis carries the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder. These symptoms have resulted in clinically significant impairment in physical health, nutritional status, or psychosocial functioning. The disturbance is not better explained by another medical condition or a primary depressive, psychotic, or obsessive-compulsive disorder.
